Match their rhythm
The simplest rule is to roughly mirror the other person. If they reply quickly, you can too. If they take their time, give them space. Matching pace makes people feel at ease.
Do not weaponize slow replies
Waiting on purpose to seem cool is a game that gets tiring fast. Real confidence is replying when you feel like it, not playing timing tricks.
It is fine to be busy
