Our story

Meet the people behind TalkRandom

TalkRandom began with one simple belief: that a single honest conversation with a stranger can change the way you see the world.

A curious kid from Norway

Joseph Graham grew up in a small coastal town in Norway, where the winters were long and the world felt very far away. From a young age he was fascinated by people. Not by their profiles or their job titles, but by the way a five minute conversation with someone new could shift his entire perspective. He would strike up conversations with travelers passing through the harbor and listen for hours to stories from places he had only seen on a map.

An idea worth chasing

Joseph came to believe that real understanding does not come from curated feeds or polished highlight reels. It comes from unscripted, human moments between two people who were never supposed to meet. He wanted to recreate that feeling he had as a boy at the harbor, the thrill of meeting someone completely random and discovering a whole new world in them.

So he built TalkRandom. The idea was simple: pair two strangers from anywhere on earth, by voice or by text, and let a real conversation happen. No profiles to judge. No feeds to scroll. Just people meeting people, the way it used to be.

One million friendships and counting

What started as a personal project became a global community. Today TalkRandom has helped spark over one million friendships across more than one hundred countries. People use it to practice a new language, to feel less alone on a quiet night, to hear a different point of view, or simply to laugh with someone they will never forget.

Joseph still believes the same thing he believed as a boy in Norway. The fastest way to understand the world is to talk to the people in it. One random conversation at a time.
